Why is choosing right cabinet handles important? Well, if it wasn’t, you wouldn’t be searching for it on Google, let alone reading an article about it.

There are two main types of cabinet handles. One is knob and the other is pull or handle.

Knob: Like doorknobs, if you want to open your cabinet, you will have to use almost all your fingers in one hand with or without your palm. Imagine you’re fixing breakfast for your family in rush hour and you are not standing in the right angle to open your cabinet. What you do is move yourself to be in perfect angle to open it. Isn’t it ridiculous thinking this is a big deal? Not if you have to cook and be in the kitchen for hours a day. How many times do you think you can walk left to right or back and forth without getting frustrated? Then why can’t you open the cabinet the whole time you’re cooking? Of course you can. Mind your head when you do.

Handle: This gives room in the middle; therefore, only one finger will suffice for you to grab a box of your favorite cereal out of the cupboard. Just stand wherever you can reach for the cupboard and you’re good to go.

Both types of handles may be fine for you. Maybe to you only designs matter. I can’t exactly tell you how to select one design over another. But here are some tips.

- There are great designs of cabinet handles these days. Some are cute and some can make you wonder what the designer was thinking about, seriously. If you wish to spread some good mood around the house, choose some funny designs. I have seen turtle, crocodile or even baby-like knobs. Couldn’t help myself smiling.

- Color is also important. Choose one that go with the cabinet or even the whole kitchen. Or go crazy and pick one which freakishly stands out.

- Pick the one that says, “I have style”. There are loads of well-patterned handles waiting for you out there. Gold flowers on plain silver or waterfalls can invite some appreciation from impressed guests.
